Badenhorst/Baggiani/Celano feat. W. Brederode

De Bijloke (BE)

In addition to the release concerts at Bimhuis Amsterdam, De Bijloke Fest. (Gent BE),
inJazz and North Sea Jazz Festivalthe album has got an exceptional attention from the media:

..."The music of this new quartet has an edge, a fringe of adventure, experiment and the essential humor... the musical wheels work together like a machine" Jazzflits #375 - Herman te Loo

------------------------------------

"This is indeed an unusual band and quite unpredictable music.
The pieces take their time, the rooms breathe deeply. There are free, lyrical breaks, sometimes a blended warm feeling, then again adventurous detours and a touch of imaginary exoticism.
Definitely special." HJS - Jazz Thing

------------------------------------

"... Elegant melodies peel out of stumbled sequences of beats, great melancholic themes grow out of quiet banter, enigmatic voices murmur and lament, tribal beats seek their way in the diffuse sonic interference fire of manipulated saxophone and manipulated guitars…" album of the week at NDR Kultur (DE)

------------------------------------

“Four gifted narrators are at work here, less interested in the plot than in the colours and contours of their musical images.
Composition and freedom in the improvisational design are balanced at a high level.
Perhaps it is precisely the abrogation of such contraposition that pulls the listener under a mysterious spell, in a music that is constantly floating but never drifts away.”
Ruedi Anlki - Jazz n More

------------------------------------

"The amalgam of styles and the genre-bending are characteristic of this group of musicians. Musical categories are abandoned and boundaries overruled.
Surprisingly, pianist Wolfert Brederode has been added to the trio. This is remarkable ... the ECM artist is a breed improviser who holds up tightly within this remarkable combo. His contributions are adventurous and effective "
Concert review Paradox - Louis Obbens - DraaiOmJeOren

------------------------------------

“When you think of impressionism, you quickly think of soundscapes, but the variety of sounds and the build-up of tension is simply too great for that.

They feel just at home in a highly ordered environment as in a fully unpredictable territory, the rightful domain of improvisers.” Ken Vos - Jazzism

Talking about recordings:

This unique improv-noise power duo featuring Michael Fischer on tenor sax and feedback (and yours truly on drums) has just finished mixing what it will become their 2nd album, featuring a very special guest: Vinicius Cajado on double bass.

Last year, amidst our trio tour that took us to ArtActs Festival in St Johann (A) Fluc in Vienna and at Zajkert | Noice Garden Museum of Modern and Contemporary Arts in Debrecen (H), We entered the recording studio.

Please check the results here:

We are still looking for a label, so if you want to help us with it, don't hesitate to make contact!
